This 4-day gorilla trek safari takes you to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to more than half the population of the remaining 720 mountain gorillas. Bwindi offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experiences and a scenic allure of stunning hills. Enjoy some relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi before having the experience of a lifetime watching at close range these majestic apes as they feed and relax. Then cross to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a great game viewing experience.

  1. Day1 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    You will be picked up after breakfast from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southwestern part of the country. Arrive in the afternoon have a Broadbill rest and in the evening, go for the Batwa cultural experience. You will go through their villages to have an experience of how they go about their daily routine activities and be amazed by the way they skillfully cultivate the hillsides and how they care for their animals (cows) which are a prime source of pride. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge/Broadbill Forest Camp.

  2. Day 2 Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a Boat Ride

    After breakfast, move to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive will be a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa, 900 meters deep. It is also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free. You will take a boat ride on this lake and hike to different viewpoints before returning for dinner and your overnight stay.

  3. Day 3 Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

    Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast and set off for Queen Elizabeth through the volcanic formation of the western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and Edward amidst game-filled plains, which you will reach in the afternoon. Check into your lodge and have lunch and some rest before the sun goes down. In the afternoon, go on the unique boat cruises that take 2 hours on the Kazinga Channel and onto Lake Edward. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking water. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is colourful and abundant. In the evening, go for a game drive with a chance to see elephants, lions, buffaloes, etc. Later, return for dinner and your overnight stay.

  4. Day 4 Chimp Track and Travel to Entebbe

    Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and head to Kalinzu Forest Reserve for up to 4 hours of chimpanzee trekking with a tracker and guide. The Forest Reserve is home to 6 groups of chimps, comprising over 300 individuals. Please bring suitable closed walking boots and long trousers! Afterwards, transfer back to Entebbe Airport with lunch en-route to catch your evening departure flight back home.

Moderate Accommodation
Moderate Hotels or Accommodations are majorly standard lodges/hotels which you can group into 3-star hotels. They have self-contained rooms, with hot running water on a daily basis. The food served is made by excellent and experienced Chefs. The Lodges cater to all dietary requirements, meaning if you are vegetarian, be rest assured that you will have lunch and dinner. All the moderate hotels in this itinerary are boutique hotels which means that we ensure the tranquility and relaxation that one needs after their trip.

Luxury accommodations are the hotels or lodges which have five or four star ratings.
